I didn't start scrapbooking to create something perfect or even just to do something creative (which is my usual draw towards different hobbies) I actually started because I really wanted a screen-free way to capture life and now it's become one of my favourite hobbies ever!
A Way to Remember the Little Things
Life is so full of tiny moments that we forget almost instantly. A walk in the park, a silly selfie with a friend, a warm drink on a wintery day. I find that scrapbooking is a little time capsule for these moments.
When I add a photo or a scrap to a page, I get to revisit that moment and get to spend time thinking about it again, which feels so nice to do.
I feel like spending time dedicated to a specific moment really helps to solidify that memory in my head and not only that but years down the line, I get to relive those memories all over again!
Screen-Free Time That Feels Good
There's something so satisfying about cutting, sticking and arranging without a single notification popping up. It's completely offline and is completely my time!
Even just 20-30 minutes of scrapbooking can improve my mood so much and I pack everything away feeling accomplished and satisfied to have made something with my own hands!
It Doesn't Have to Be Perfect
Messy handwriting? Wonky photos? That's okay! Scrapbooking isn's about perfection, it's about being playful and creative and capturing life in your own way.
I really think that that's the beauty of it! There are no rules, no one telling you what needs to be done and how it should be done and in the end you're left with something you'll actually enjoy looking back on. Every page you make tells a story, shares a memory, even if it's just a silly sticker or a receipt from your last purchase.
A Treasure to Look Back on
One of my favourite things about scrapbooking is how much joy it brings future me! I love opening a page I made months ago and remembering a moment I'd completely forgotten. That small burst of happiness in that moment is the best feeling.
I've always loved looking through old family photos and reliving photos from my childhood and this is a way that I get to carry this on for many years to come!
Start Small and Have Fun!
You don't need fancy supplies. A notebook, some glue and whatever bits and pieces you have laying around is more than enough. One page is plenty, half a page is fine, even one sticker counts!
The point isn't to make it perfect, it's to make something that makes you smile when you look at it.
Scrapbooking is kind of magical in that way. It's creative, wholesome and serves as a little reminder that life is full of small, magical moments worth holding on to.
